We know that helping girls love their bodies is key to their emotional and physical health.
But what can we do in the face of the ubiquitous, damaging messages that girls get on a daily basis? We can create Body Positive community! How?
The first step is that we must do the work to quiet our own internal critics so we can truly SEE our girls. We can then reflect back to them their magnificent, powerful yet "flawed" and vulnerable human selves, because we honor all of these qualities in ourselves.
Join Alliance for Girls and The Body Positive at this workshop where Alliance member Connie Sobczak, Co-Founder of The Body Positive and author of Embody: Learning to Love Your Unique Body (and quiet that critical voice!), will lead participants through experiential activities to give them a deeper understanding of their own relationship with their critical voices as well as their beauty.
In this workshop, participants will grow as positive role models for the girls in their lives and develop some new skills for handling this complex issue. Handouts will be provided to take these activities back to participants’ organizations.
